Description

 

Sophrosyne (σωφροσύνη, so-fro-su-na) is an ancient Greek concept of a healthy state of mind. It is the ideal character, temperament, and, most importantly, a deep awareness of one’s true self. Sophrosyne means you are not searching for anything more, you know everything is already inside of you. 

I decided to name this piece Sophrosyne because this was my state of mind at the time of making this piece. 

As you can see, the atmosphere is a little dark and gloomy. Still, the Lotus remains as beautiful as ever. The shadow represents the person's shadow self.

The Lotus flower is a symbol of enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. The Lotus is resilient and can even purify the water they live in. The characteristics of the Lotus is an excellent analogy to Nature and the Human Spirit.

This work is inspired by Claude Monet. It will be featured in the "Physically Digital" Exhibit in Toronto, Canada from May 5th - 14th 2022.
